Lavender’s Blue Mn. is definitely a dream come true, after a culmination of many years spent in the floral design industry but with somewhat of a different twist. I was the owner, designer, accountant, sales and marketing team, buyer, installer, laborer, clean up crew and every other position you can think of (with the help of some wonderful people working for me, here and there over a ten year span, including each of my four sons, and even my husband at times) of DuRand Design & Landscape. Around the time my father became ill, I decided to retire my business and devote my time and energy where it was most needed. A decision, I will always be grateful and thankful that I made.
My father sadly, has since passed, and my four sons have grown up. They are taking the world by storm, each in their own unique way. I am so incredibly proud of them.
I have now found myself coming around, full circle to my original love and passion for flowers. Growing, nurturing and creating.
Lavender’s Blue Mn. is really a continuation of what I started long ago. Maybe a bit more streamlined and refined, but nevertheless I am indulging in what I am passionate about. There is not a single day that goes by that feels like work. (I might be a bit sore or a lil’ sun kissed ~ or sun slapped depending on my lack of reapplication of SPF). However when I think about a typical day ~ amending the soil, witnessing a seed germinate, seeing a blossom unfurl, a bouquet come together just right, seeing the fresh morning dew on the foliage, the birds singing their songs while I work, removing the weeds for the millionth time..... well..... that feels like heaven on earth, and I feel blessed. Every. Single. Day.
I know this is where I am supposed to be, and I am so pleased to be able to share my love of fresh cut flowers with you. There is a lot of heart that goes into my work, from the early planning stages of picking out the perfect variety, to nourishing each individual seed through germination, all the way to the field, until it is carefully and uniquely arranged , especially for you to enjoy.
I thank you for being here, and I am humbled that you have taken the time to read my thoughts thus far. I encourage you to treat yourself. Really take a moment and look around at all the beauty that surrounds us, simply for our sheer enjoyment. God’s handiwork is always there, even in the smallest of details, but sometimes life and noise unfortunately get in the way, we often forget to take it all in and sometimes fail to notice the beauty around us.
~ be well
